I wanted to create a boot drive for Windows 7 so I went to cmd and stuff to create the drive but instead of hitting 2 for disk 2 (USB) I hit one for my hard drive.  Is there any way to recover?

So here is what I did to let you know.  I wanted to make a windows 7 boot drive as I said above but instead of hitting 2 I hit 1.  Can I make my Drive not bootable is what I am asking.

So can I make a drive that I occidentally made a boot drive back into a normal drive?  If not, what else could I do with the drive?

THE DRIVE IS NOW FINE!

I fixed the drive by doing this:

  1. Go to the search bar a search Computer Management
  2. Click the storage tab and right clicked the Formatted drive and click next until the drive was assigned unallocated status
  3. Right clicked the Drive and selected the Add Volume option and clicked next until the drive was available again!

Now I have a much more organized PC!

Can't you just power off the PC, power it on and then get to the BIOS and tell it to boot from the USB drive?

Yes, I tried running the BIOS but from inside Windows the D: drive is gone.  The USB drive wouldn't boot itself so I went to completely wipe it and everything for it to be a boot drive rather than a standard USB.  I was going to install Windows 7 on D: which is the hard drive (1TB) that is now a flippin boot drive  :D  I will try the BIOS again to see if I can reconfigure it.  I am not bothered by the drive being wiped.  I just want it back.  Thanks for replying though.

if you have you operating system disk start it on recovery and fix boot sector

Could you please tell me how to do that properly.  I am actually not an absolute tech genius, I just wanted another version of Windows 7 on my machine.  I'd rather not run a VM

Ha ha, I should have.  I really need this drive back though.

The data on the drive is gone really.  You might be able to send it to a recovery service, but rebuilding a formatted drive isn't childs play.
