I dont know much about mining LTC. My only experience in mining is with BTC and i just started GUIminer and left my computer alone for a month or two.

Im trying to use CGminer, but it dosnt seem to want to work.

First i was setting it all up using RDP, but when the miner started it said it couldnt find any devices to mine on. Iv had that problem before, i just restarted the computer and worked on it locally.

When i start it locally, it seems to freeze at:

[date] Long-polling activated for http://mine.pool-x.eu:8080.....

its been sitting there for some time now. Should i try another pool or should i go back to mining BTC?

Litecoin and scrypt mining can be a little bit more difficult to configure than bitcoin.

What gpu(s) do you have that you're trying to mine on?

Scrypt is a much more intense algorithm and it can make the computer unusable while mining, that could be seen as freezing?

In order to start CGminer for scrypt mining you need to launch it with the --scrypt parameter.

cgminer --scrypt -o <pool url> -u <worker username> -p <worker password>

Are you able to share how you have it set up with settings, etc.

Also if your interested in mining LTC, there's a pool I just recently started mining on that's having a giveaway of 600 LTC to a random miner for mining throughout September. Each day at a random time if they see you mining you get one entry into the contest/giveaway. It requires nothing extra other than just mining in their pool. If interested send me a PM with your email, I'll send you an invite to join.

You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.

at first i used a program called "cgEasy" (its just a .jar that makes a batch file with the parameters needed to mine with), but that was what made it hang. Its an older program, maybe it dosnt work with newer versions of cgminer.

What i ended up doing was just double-clicking the .exe and putting in the url and worker manually. It seems to be working, but the pool dosnt seem to "see" me. (i know the GPU is working because of high temps, i dont know if its working the way it should... but its definitely working on something)

Any suggestions?

The parameters i currently have:

cgminer --scrypt -o http://mine.pool-x.eu:8080 -u judahnator.0 -p pass --intensity 13

I wouldn't trust any third party programs when it comes to mining or set up unless it's open source and the code can be reviewed. While it's likely fine and just outdated I'd be cautious (I'd wear a tinfoil hat if it would better protect my interests heh)

Those parameters should work, if the pool isn't registering any hash or submitted shares. Try creating another worker and point the miner at that. You could also try a different pool.

Is CGminer reporting any accepted shares or do you get a string of rejects or hardware errors? It could also take about 10 minutes before a pool starts seeing your contribution.

If you want to try and edit more settings in CGminer, I'd recommend launching with those parameters then pressing "S" "W" "Enter" that will create a cgminer config file labeled cgminer.conf you can then launch cgminer.exe without using parameters. If you open cgminer.conf with notepad, you can see and change all settings to increase your hashrate.

It said i had 0 accepted and 0 rejected. (kinda confusing since my GPU was sitting at 87C)

Tried another pool. Now when i enter all the info the program says this for about 5 min:

[date] Started cgminer 3.4.1

then the command window goes completely dark, and if i click on it the window closes.

Here, its not doing anything. my GPU isnt getting even a little warm.

I would post its parameters, but when i edit to add them in they dont show up
