My PC that I want to build, mainly for gaming and regular work. I want it to last for some time so longevity is important.

I am not sure if I should invest into DDR3 or DDR4

Any suggestions are helpful.

Specs:

-MSI GeForce GTX970 GAMING 4G Graphic Card ($539AUD)

-Cooler Master Vortex 211Q Super Low Profile CPU Cooler ($25AUD)

-Intel Core i7-6700 CPU - Skylake LGA1151, 3.4GHz, 8MB - BX80662I76700 ($420AUD) (No stock cooler) ^hence

-Seagate Barracuda ST1000DM003 1TB 3.5" Internal Hard Drive ($70AUD)

DDR4 SET

-Kingston 8GB Kit DDR4 2600Mhz HyperX C15 Dual Channel Kit (2x4GB) ($99AUD)

or Corsair 8GB (2x4GB) DDR4 2400MHz Vengeance LPX Desktop Memory - CMK8GX4M2A2400C14 ($89AUD)

-Gigabyte G1-SNIPER-B7 ATX Motherboard ($179AUD)

DDR3 SET

-Corsair 8GB kit (2x 4GB) DDR3 1600Mhz Vengeance XMP Heatspreader Desktop Memory ($79AUD)

-Gigabyte GA-H110M-S2PV DDR3 Micro ATX Motherboard, LGA 1151, DDR3 ($105AUD)

I haven't chosen a power supply due being unsure about wattage and different pin connectors for GPU, CPU and motherboard

Please also post any ideas for an SSD

My allocated funds for the build are just over 1000 so 1000-1300AUD

If you find better deals that are located in Australia and ship to Perth that would be great.

You can only use DDR4 (that I know of...some people say it supports DDR3 but I cannot deny nor confirm that).

In the future please use PC Partpicker, and post in the new builds and planning section, not the General Discussion area.

Welcome to the forum!

(PC looks good by the way)

I would recommend a 4790k because similar performance and much cheaper.
