I just finished my first build but i do not have a gpu installed. My build is an Asrock M8 Z97 barebones, G.Skill 8GB (soon to be 16), Sandisk 120GB SSD, WD Black 1TB HDD.

With these stats, what do i need to play skyrim at 1080/HD at 45+ FPS?

What is your budget?

AMD: R9 380 or if you can get one a R9 390 for 60+fps modded skyrim at 1080p

Nvidia: 970, get a nice MSI, Gigabyte or EVGA model and you will be all set, nice OC and they can be as fast or faster than a refrance 980...

Skyrim can be done 1080p with almost anything on the market today without any issue.

A 750ti is overkill for that.

But the 390 is the best price to performance.

I have an insanely over-modded skyrim running on a 980ti locked at 75hz at 2x forced supersampling 1440p with a super low amount of utilization.

The 390 is +/- USD$300 (I haven't seen a 390 cost more than USD$320, though. But thats just what I've seen so far).

But a 380 or 380X (I personally don't see a benefit in the 380X, IMHO, when the 380 is there and its barely behind the 380X... just barely) would be a good alternative if you don't want to add that extra $1-20 or more into your budget.
