HD598 soundstage

Suppressd

Hi, I've got a quick confirmation that will help me decided if my hd 598's should be swapped out or not.

I've seen this song used with this headphones.

So, those with hd 598's, does this song have the guitar sound only in the right ear cup and the vocals in both?

The guitar is audible in both channels, but it is more prominent in the right ear.

Vocals seem to be panned slightly to the left.

It's in both, but it is panned to the right about 75%.

And the saxophone or whatever is more prominent in the left correct?

Yes. Panned to the left about equal to the guitar's panning to the right.

What makes you think they would need to be "swapped out"?

Maybe he thinks soundstage directly equates to the panning of sounds?

Oh, channel balance. That's different from soundstage.

Can you explain what makes soundstage different?

Soundstage is the perceived wideness of the sound.

Balance is audio volume on each channel.

This sums it up. Put another way, soundstage is how well a headphone renders the sense of acoustic space in a recording. As you listen to more headphones, you'll notice that there is a lot of variation in how this is handled.

This.

Open-backed headphones tend to have a wider soundstage compared to closed-back headphones.
