R9 390

Go to solution Solved by afyeung,

Borderless windowed mode is your saving grace. You get the benefit of high fps(165 or whatever), and no screen tearing. R6 seige has that fortunately

So.. A little background - ive been watching linus videos for several months cause i wanted to upgrade my pc, i consulted you guys and eventually, i got my upgraded pc running! Thank you linus media community! You made me happier than a tiger after a successful hunt :')

I upgraded my gpu to an r9 390 (which only fitted after I teared some case material apart)

And my psu to an 650w seasonic g series

I usually played rainbow six siege low graphics on 60 fps constant cause i used nvidia adaptive sync.

Now that i moved to amd i got average of 100 fps with min 67 and max 165!(ultra)

Crazy.. But still, these high numbers would not help me because my screen is only 60hz.

I tried to cap crimson to 60 but unfortunately it always drops under 60 and the screen tearing is even worse.

I tried radeonpro dynamic fps but the game crashes before it even shows the sponsors when i use this software..

Im not sure what i can do to make my fps stick at 60fps as an amd user.. So far im impressed but lil bit disappointed by amd not letting me get the constant 60..

Hope you can help me.

Thank you so much man, it works!

Enjoy the framerate! The only slight difference is that you will get some input lag vs. full screen. But I would take slight input lag over tearing any day. tearing sucks.

Lol. You get used to it after a bit. But I'd say bad tearing is worse than input lag to play competitively.

wish amd had adaptive sync - like tech :P , i guess ill either save for a freesync or just wait.

if i got the gtx 970 i wouldve run the game smoother but in 2 years i would have to upgrade it , not the case with the 390 ;)

It's better to cap the game with MSI Afterburner rather than using FRTC because FRTC will downclock your card to achieve frametarget which create stutter/microstutter in some games while Afterburner did not in 99% of games.
