HD 555's for $90?

I can pick up a pair for $90. I am no audiophile by any means and most likely once I buy these I will pick up a sound card when I get the money. But would they be worth $90 used if I can get them? Need to know soon thanks  :)

Eh, a few years ago I got a pair used for $55. I did the mod and it sounded worse from what I remember.

odd. I've never actually owned a pair but from everyone who did the consensus was that it was an improvement.

on your own now, op.

There is a large problem with people modding or changing something on headphones and they always say it sounds better. Physiologically we all think that when we upgrade or modify something, it should be better. That's why in blind taste tests a $10 wine will be better than a $500 wine. Nwavguy wrote a good article about this and explains this and why you take anything you read about audio with a grain of salt.

Back to the subject at hand - $90 is a little high but if you can return them go ahead and try.

Sounds like a good deal to me if they're not broken.

the price of the discontinued models fluctuates.

but $90 seems good to me.

I'd double check the lower headband if you can and make sure there are no cracks.

Will work for electronic components and parts

Yea I think they are worth that, audio solutions aren't evolving that much so pricing on given product doesn't have to change much. Depending on condition, it can fluctuate of course. I bought mine long time ago (maybe 6 years) for ~85€ new tho.
