Posted January 10, 2016 I just built a new machine with a Corsair H110i GTX cooler. I turned it on for the first time a few minutes ago and it posted (hooray), but gave me CPU fan warning. I inspected the inside and realized the fans weren't spinning so I immediately flipped the switch on the power supply to cut all power. Could I have damaged my CPU? Or shortened its life maybe? The thing was turned on for probably about 30 seconds. I suppose the pump hardware might have acted like a rudimentary heatsink, even though the pump and fans weren't running. The problem I realized was that the pump has a SATA power connector on it but the manual makes no mention of it whatsoever. Even Corsair's H110i GTX official installation video on YouTube doesn't mention it. Both say to plug the fans into the fan cord coming from the pump, and plug the other lead into a CPU fan header on the motherboard. I saw the SATA cable and didn't know what it was for or whether or not it was needed, and since the manual says nothing about it I didn't plug it in. I did find some information in Corsair's forum stating that the manual is wrong. I can't believe Corsair didn't at least include some kind of memo in the box since not plugging in the power is obviously a major deal. I haven't turned it back on (it's late and I'm going to deal with it tomorrow), but I was hoping to get some feedback on what damage may have been caused, if any.
