I'm looking to build a new PC and I am having some trouble deciding on some components.

This is my current list:

Case - NZXT Noctis 450

PSU - Antec True Power 750W 80+ Gold

Mobo - MSI Z170A Gaming Pro

CPU - Intel Core i7 6700K

CPU Cooler - Corsair H80i GT

RAM - 8GB DDR4 2400Mhz (2x4GB)

GPU - MSI GTX 970 Gaming 4GB

Storage - 128GB SSD + 1TB HDD

Components such as the Case, PSU, RAM and Storage I am happy with however if any of you think I should upgrade or even downgrade I am more than happy to hear.

However, Im stuck when it comes to the Mobo, CPU and GPU.

I am considering the following changes:

MSI Z170 Gaming Pro >>> MSI Z170 Gaming M7

Intel Core i7 6700K >>> Intel Core i7 6700

MSI GTX 970 Gaming 4GB >>> MSI R9 390 Gaming 8GB

I dont want to bottleneck my build in any way but at the same time want to future proof it as much as possible.

If any one can help and give me some advice on some upgrades or downgrades, It'd be much appreciated.

I will be using it for Music Production, Multi-Tasking and Gaming at 1080p with Ultra settings at 60FPS or higher.

Thanks!

Im in South Africa, just need the build.

Budget is R20 000.00 ($1400.00)

I suggest getting the i5 6600K and upgrading the GPU to something like the 980 or 390X. Also the R9 390 does outperform the 970.

Keep CPU as 6700k

Whichever Z170 motherboard is cheaper, go for that

390 > 970

Get a 250GB SSD, 120GB fills up too fast nowadays.

How much can the i5 6600K handle as the music production software requires a lot of CPU? Thats why I'd rather drop to the non-K version of the i7 unless they perform the same.

I also saw many videos and posts on the 390 out performing the 970 by ~5FPS but I am an Nvidia fan and dont want to move over if its not more than a minor increase.

so it depends on what your using it for. if your just gaming i would go with an i5 6600k and a r9 390. if your also recording and editing i would indeed go with an i7 and probably a 970 even tho im not a fan of nvidia

Is there more to the 390 than just a ~5FPS when compared to the 970 as thats all I've seen?

As well as Im planning on getting another GPU in the future, so will the results be the same when having 2x970s in SLI and 2x390s in Crossfire or is SLI better than Crossfire? (Visa Versa)

You may want to stick with the i7 6700K because multi-threading can be useful with music production. If you can get the K version you should because overclocking it can really speed things up.

The 390 has double the VRAM which'll be helpful as more and more games are pushing more than 4GB and crossfire tends to scale better than SLI.

390 has freesync which is just better than gsync in every way. 970 has shadowplay which is better than the amd alternative

Ok cool, and what can I expect the lifespan to be if I overclock the CPU?

As long as the CPU is not overheating the lifespan will not really be impacted. Also you have an AiO cooler so you should be able to get a good overclock out of it.

Ok so what is a comfortable heat for the CPU to be at as well as temps for the GPU as well?

Do you think the Noctis 450 is also a good choice regarding its default cooling?

So AMD has the better dual solution?

you mean crossfire (2 gpu's in one system)?
