Why is it that whenever AMD releases a new update on their Crimson Software, we have to reinstall it? Why cant they just include an update button that will download the update from their software and update it within without requiring you to uninstall / reinstall the driver.

It's the same for Nvidia.

 

And it has to delete out of date packages and replace them with revised ones. Otherwise you'd have two copies and one isn't being used. That will pile up over time and people will complain. Plus there are less issues.

You can simply update the driver iirc, it's not mandatory to remove it and reinstall it back.

Last time I asked I was told that it is "sometimes" causing problems. If it's not 100% safe better not risk it by removing and reinstalling.

It's 100% safe. Have been doing it for 5 years. No issues.

Nothing is 100% safe.

So it's fine to just download the new driver and install it w/o uninstalling the old one? I have no experiences w/ updating drivers because before im fine w/o updating anything since it's more of a trouble before than a fix. Lol.

Though, if moving from CCC to Crimson I suggest a clean install.

It's ok. I got a BSOD after letting Crimson update itself, but now it's fine. You can always use DDU if something gets screwed up.

Nothing is 100% safe.

 

Fortunately, for driver updates you don't have to wait a few months to find out.
