No sound, only static

My computer's audio ports are not working, any of them. Whether it's the front panel or the back no matter what audio device i plug in it only makes a faint static/squeaking noise. I've reinstalled all the drivers but that hasn't worked. Any suggestions?

where are you plugging your speakers in

can you try different speakers or headphones?

has it happened before? did you just get this pc or is it the first time you plug in audio devices?

I'm plugging the speakers in the front panel and the back and neither work, i've tried other speakers and headphones. USB headphones work so it's the audio ports or something like that

just to make sure... the color of the port you're trying to plug it in is Green, right?

I'm all out of ideas.. your onboard audio is dead

Yeah it's green, i was pretty sure it was dead but i thought i'd ask

yes or you could use displayport or hdmi for audio

I would update audio driver first, it's pretty rare for it to be the only part that died and the mobo is fine.
