Hi, Today I was experiencing some pretty horrendous wifi speeds, I noticed that whenever my sister got off her Samsung galaxy tab that it was back to full speed almost instantly. Usually we can have 6-7 devices on the wifi with no problems, but this one tablet just bombs the entire connection for all the other devices. She wasn't even streaming video or surfing the web or anything! It seems just the tablet being on is enough to destroy the connection. To test this i joined a league of legends game and told my sister to get on her tablet, my ping was 1200ms. Shortly afterwards I told her to get off and within a few seconds my ping was at a constant 40ms. Please help me solve this issue, its driving me insane.

Current Build: Core i7 4790k @ 4.6, Asus Maximus VII Hero, Corsair Vengeance Pro 2400mhz 8gb (2x4gb), GTX 980ti, NZXT Kraken X61, Fractal Define R5  EVGA Supernova B2 850w, Some 300gb hard drive.

It's a stretch but I know in the old days if you had a G device on a network that was all otherwise N, it would drop itself down to talk to the G device and as a result everyone would suffer.  Is it possible something similar is happening here?

Solve your own audio issues  |  First Steps with RPi 3  |  Humidity & Condensation  |  Sleep & Hibernation  |  Overclocking RAM  |  Making Backups  |  Displays  |  4K / 8K / 16K / etc.  |  Do I need 80+ Platinum?

If you can read this you're using the wrong theme.  You can change it at the bottom.

That sounds like what's happening, Do you think a really good router would fix this problem?

Some have separate "channels", or bands, or antennas, or something (I'll call them "things") and claim to be able to automatically sort devices so all the old ones end up on one and all the new ones on another, allowing it to run the new thing at full speed and the old thing at lower speeds.  That would supposedly fix it if this is in fact your issue, but that's only if it works well.

Ryan is on the right track, your wifi should have 2 channels 2.4ghz and 5ghz.  Have your device connect using the 5ghz channel if it has the option (some wifi cards don't).  That should fix your issue.  If it doesn't then there really is no way to fix the issue other than upgrading the tab to use N instead of G.
