Hi,

I'm not much of a Call Of Duty player, but a lot of people in my dorm are wanting to play some sort of splitscreen FPS on my gaming rig I have here. Are there any good shooters like COD that support this with Xbox controllers? Modern Warfare 2 said it didn't support this. This is totally outside my element so sorry if this is a stupid question lol

Also please don't make COD hate comments. I don't like it either.

Make any game local multiplayer :P

Solve your own audio issues  |  First Steps with RPi 3  |  Humidity & Condensation  |  Sleep & Hibernation  |  Overclocking RAM  |  Making Backups  |  Displays  |  4K / 8K / 16K / etc.  |  Do I need 80+ Platinum?

If you can read this you're using the wrong theme.  You can change it at the bottom.

Black Ops 3 is the only COD on PC to have splitscreen, i don't even think consoles have it xD, and I highly recommend it; it's pretty awesome :)

Wow, what an idiotic comment. I came from console and it frustrates me that there are a lack of split screen games for pc...split screen is not made for console, split screen is made for people who have real friends who come over and socialize, or to play with family members....not just for console.

Me and the Mrs play some local co-op games on my 24" monitor at my desk, we have a laugh. All saying "split-screen is for console" does is hold the pc platform back, we have the power to max games out in split screen and yet people are so against it.

The only reason cod is better on console is because devs don't care to much for pc when it comes to cod, although I bought black ops 1 the other week and I am having a better time on it than what I did on the 360. 144fps and 1440p dsr. Black ops 3 is good on my pc to, but I hate the movement.

You seem to like jumping to alot of conclusions before properly analyzing stuff

Seem's like your the type of guy who thinks they are the most experienced person out there, when they are not. I've been gaming on consoles since the Sega Genesis and have a PS4 right next to me currently along with my gaming rig (haven't been on PS4 since my mate played with me last week). If you look back to the not so distant future, you can see consoles were designed for people who wanna play with friends/family together in the same room and they souly focused on that at the time, before internet gaming was a reality. Were the PC's however took another route. Imagine having 4 keyboard /mice on one desk playing a game and then imagine playing a PS4 with 4 mates, the ps4 was better designed for that aspect!

What I said above is that "Call of Duty Splitscreen is for consoles only", what is true (apart from black ops 3 of what I'm informed) and that's why the console version is better in my option, along with it being targeted at the console for many other reason's I could write an article on. Ever heard of options, clearly not.

Next time can you please not take out your personal issue's here, and instead sort them out with someone who can help you in real life. Also pretty much everything you said above was irrelevant to the op's question.

His point was valid. PC should get some more support for split screen. Not an angry rant or anything, just an opinion (like yours) :)

Also you can easily add controllers to a PC and make it a family friendly experience.

The only valid point he had was "pc should get more support for splitscreen games" why didn't he just say that then?

Blackops 3 supports that. I used my keyboard and a controller to do one screen per monitor. And I think it supports up to 4 controllers. (Or 2)

I used a PS4 controller. Though a Xbox one would be easier.

I am sorry I misunderstood, it seemed like you we're saying split screen is for consoles only and that's why cod's better on console. But I too have been gaming since the Nes and then the genesis, pretty much every major console up until last year when I moved to pc. So I too have enough experience to know what I am saying. And as I now I have moved finally to the better platform, it's annoying to see such an important feature missing from p games. Ark surrvival evolved is getting split screen on xbox one but not pc. Don't starve is also getting split screen on console.....but why not pc? Do they see us as lonely people with no friends? My pc has way more usb ports than a console so would actually be capable of running split screen better than any console.

It's not a life issue, it's just I see so many people arguing against split screen on pc, I mistook you for one of those people, hence I gave you response trying to make you see why it's a silly thing to think. No life story.

Edit.

The funny thing is split screen is also dying out on consoles now, give or take a few. But games like borderlands the handsome collection cam with 4 player split screen, why not release an update for pc to give us the same feature.

But as I said, I mistook you for one of those people who are strictly against split screen because it's a "console" thing and no one wants to play with a controller.

I feel my response is still valid on the points I made and stand by them. (Apart from the whole idiotic comment bit, that I retract.)

Also, it is more straining on the hardware to split screen. And the current generation of consoles are struggling to play AAA titles on one screen at 900p or 1080p.

Taking out his life issue's on other people

In my country it means he is taking out his anger on other people, say he got sacked "he is just taken out his anger on someone else who did nothing".

I just feel it should be the norm to include local co-op when possible. Why Ark, Don't starve, left 4 dead 1 and 2, borderlands franchise, even minecraft and many more have or will be getting split screen and not pc is a bit silly and the end result only limits the platform. Our hardware we have available to us is more than capable.

Minecraft for one would have to have two separate inputs of some sort. And the PC version is much to complex to work on a controller.

Seeing the comment for what I thought it was did piss me off a little, but I didn't write it in anger. I only wrote it to make a point to someone who I thought needed telling, but as I said, I mistook you. Certainly wasn't a life issue though or written in anger towards you...If that was the case every opinion would be a life story.

A modder got minecraft working very well with split screen,  and for left 4 dead 2, but native support is what's needed.

I don't see how I need to calm down, I have clearly said I mistook him. Still wasn't written in anger though.

Well it won't be coming any time soon to the PC, do some research back in the 1990's and you may understand why. PC's weren't intended for gaming at first, but for work/research. Now the tides have changed. It's pretty complex to explain it all, but simply it's due to the keyboard/mouse and the typical PC gamer.

Who know something might happen!

PC

I'm hopeful that with steam link releasing maybe we will see it start to treacle in, but again, I am sorry that I mistook you.

I play mario kart with the Mrs on the wii emulator, 6K internal resolution. Looks amazing, much better than any console, just a shame really, having to use emulators and such to enjoy some good co-op games. Looking at getting the dolphin bar off amazon though and some wiiMotes. Roll on the wii U emulator and mario kart 8.

To help bring it back on topic, black ops 3 works well with split screen, although it has black bars either side of the screen, which is a bit annoying....atill fun in zombies etc.
