How decent is this setup.  I plan to use it to play skyrim and beta-indie games (Starbound)

Note: Yes this is my current PC.  I originally built it on a $700 budget.  The HDD, graphic card, memory and Disk Drive have not been replaced

 

Case: Raidmax Aeolus w/ stock fan + 1 corsair fan

Power Supply: Corsair CX750M

Motherboard: ASUS SaberTooth Z97 mark 1

CPU: Intel i5-4690K

Memory: Patriot Viper DDR3 8GB x2

Graphic Card: ASUS GeForce GTX 650

HDD: WD Green WD10EZRX 1TB

SSD: Patriot Blast 480GB

Disk Drive: GH24NS90

If you already have it, why are you asking now how good it is?  But yes that should run skyrim just fine maxed out with HD textures addon

If you plan to mod skyrim, or play more graphically intensive (newer) games at max settings, you're going to need a more powerful graphics card. Everything else is fine.

Ketchup is better than mustard.

GUI is better than Command Line Interface.

Dubs are better than subs

Be sure to turn off your PC before doing this:

 

Step 1. Unscrew side panel

Step 2. Remove aforementioned side panel

Step 3. Remove the screws that hold the power supply in place

Step 4. Gently unplug and carefully undue wires and cable management that involves cords connected to the power supply

Step 5. Once completely unconnected from your PC, remove power supply

Step 6. With great control and carefulness, smash power supply over cinder block with sledge hammer, Gallagher style

Step 7. Using an other internet connected device, access your preferred computer component merchant

Step 8. On your website of preference, navigate your way through until you find an EVGA G2 of B2 power supply of efficient wattage, or another brand of reputable quality

Step 9. Order power supply

Step 10. Allow time for shipping

Step 11. Upon arrival, remove power supply from box

Step 12. Install power supply

Step 13. Return removed screws

Step 14. Plug in cables

Step 14. Redo cable management

Step 15. Return side panel back to case

Step 16. Screw in side panel

Step 17. Turn on your PC and hope it boots properly

 

Congratulations! You have officially rid your computer of cancer.

That's a lot of steps to say you don't like the CX :)

I understand, but you have decent parts so try and keep them safe, as well as you and the structural integrity of your house (that psu is notorious for catching on fire). Keep it in mind as a great upgrade.

Well I just had a look iinto numerous posts stating it has minimal safety features, and does not operate above 30C.  This correct?

Pretty much.  It is a budget PSU intended for budget systems that ( a ) will not produce much heat or require much power, and ( b ) won't really matter if they die.  The capacitors used are not rated to the usual 105 deg C, but instead only about 30 iirc, so problems can arise fairly easily if you have a hot GPU blowing directly into it, or are working it hard.  Now, they do sell a lot of them, and according to corsair the return rate is around 0.1% iirc, but there are also no shortage of horror stories online, so I would say make up your own mind about it - I'm not going to tell you what to do :)

Thank you for the info. That's why I wanted to come here. I figured this would be the best place to get opinions
