Secure NAS

Go to solution Solved by Curufinwe_wins,

Are you saying I can access my storage through my router? Is that just locally or anywhere?

Yea pretty much. Not hard to setup on most modern routers either. Plus USB 3.0 is actually a faster standard than gigabit Ethernet, not that most external HDD's will do that much more.

Hi everyone,

I am looking to build a NAS system. However, I'm concerned because I need it to be ultra secure and I'm not sure how to do that. Does anyone have any recommendations or articles on this. I've looked at online cloud storage but it's pretty pricey, anything over 1TB is $100 per month.

Thanks,

M

If you have less than 5 TB of needed space, I'd honestly recommend an external drive (or two) instead. Much more cost efficient for basically (well as much as you might actually use) the same functionality if you have a nice router.
