ASUS Laptop Sleep/hibernation mode causing shutdown

Hi everyone, i am using my trusty ASUS N56JR for school (Mostly just using Word, not a ton of gaming on this laptop). Since upgrading to an SSD and Win 10, whenever i try to enter sleep mode, it just causes a hard shutdown. it's not optimal, as i now have to shut down the laptop several times a day now, i just want it to enter sleep mode whenever i close the lid. When i upgraded to the SSD, i did not clone the old OS, and just started from scratch. I have downloaded all the necessary drivers directly from ASUS. What do you guys think i should do in this situation???

Note: Since the SSD upgrade the CPU has been runnin' a lot hotter than usual, and the battery life is horrible (about 1 hour 30 mins light use). I personally think this is a driver issue, or a borked OS. Reinstall Windows???

Thanks in advance.
