My disk usage is constantly at 100% since I upgraded to Windows 10, but the usage is only ever around 1MB/s

I know McAfee is an absolute nightmare when it comes to system usage, but this can't all be down to that.

The CPU usage on my laptop (I know it's only a 4510U, but it's not that slow) constantly cycles between around 20% usage and 100% at regular intervals.

Does anybody know if there is any way to solve this?

And before you all start, the ONLY reason I am using McAfee is because it came free for a year with the laptop and I like to get my monies worth! Thankfully I only have 2 weeks left!

Well, wait 2 weeks and get another virus scanner or get another virus scanner now.

It's a waste to try and fix something that'll only be there for 2 more weeks.

Get Avast! or AVG. No need to spend money on an AV.

I have absolutely no intention of paying, like I say, the only reason I even have McAfee is because it came free. Before that I always used MSE, but that's not supported any more is it?

It does, actually. They merged it with Windows Defender, which is now a fully fledged AV. It should come pre-installed, but you can't enable it unless you have no other AV software installed.
