I'm pretty sure I know the answer already, but its OK to flip a water cooled pc, right? I did it once before, but the pump made a weird noise for a couple seconds when I turned it on. That was just the water making its place back in the loop, right?

Finally my Santa hat doesn't look out of place

BAD IDEA. Now your pump is ontop of your res which means it'll run dry for a bit until it fills back up. either flip your pump/res back to normal or you will kill your pump.

You shouldn't flip the PC while the pump is on. That meas the res is under the pump so the pump started pulling air from the res into your loop. You were running it dry; hence the grinding noise. You may have damaged your pump when you did that.

why would you want to do that?

this. A few seconds is more than enough, that pump will never work the same again.

Why did you think that was a good idea? ):

NOOOOO. I had the PC turned off. Then when I turned it on I heard it sound strange for a sec or two and then it became normal

Still, the pump ran empty for a few seconds which enough to cripple it or even kill it. You dun goofed

Don't panic its all is ok, just a bit of air got in...

A lot of people over react to the whole pumps ruining dry thing.. Its always seems bit end of the world for some reason...

Yes its very true you cant run a pump dry, especially out of the box, but if its been running in a loop then the rear of the chamber would of still had some water in to protect the bearing if it even has one... A few seconds wont do any damage... Think of the water as lubrication for the pump, so if it runs dry so no lubrication! Plastic has a low melting point so it wont take long for friction to cause irreparable damage, even light fiction scoring marks can have large implications on performance... But as you said it was a couple of seconds so your fine...

Lol yeah I had the feeling that it wasn't so bad and wouldn't do any damage. I figured it would be the equivalent to having an air bubble in the loop. And I agree about your thoughts on Ekmryan . . .

Do it, put it back up the right way, jiggle it as best as possible and cycle the pump.

I can't see how that can be worse than priming a loop when filling it for the first time...
