tar xf v0.17-20111026.tar -C/opt/www

 

 

^ simple question here, will this place the contents of "v0.17-20111026.tar" into the directory: /opt/www 

 

or is this doing something else? Im a bit confused haha

Should. 

I'm just asking because that particular file contains a program for my router and DD-wrt is being retarded and doesn't want to "un-tar" the file (says invalid tar magic?) so I un-tar'd it on my computer and transfered the folder into the directory it was supposed to be in but now I have to manually move it to /opt/www and I just wasn't sure exactly what -C actually did (was a bit confused by the help) 

 

-C means "Change to directory before operation" but in the wiki they used a confusing example.
