So I currently have 3 drives in my computer, SSD for OS and some programs, 1TB HDD for all of my stuff, and a 500 GB HDD for all of my GF's stuff. I want to get another drive soon probably a 2TB WD Black for more storage for me so I will have a total of 4 drives in use, How should I go about backing up all 4 of these drives? The only time I ever used any form of system backup was when I was still using a Mac.

System: i7 4790K, Hyper 212 EVO, 16 GB Crucial Ballistix, GTX 1070 Super clocked, MSI Z97S SLI Krait Edition, Corsair RM 750, Corsair 750D (with 2 additional 140mm NZXT fans up top for exhaust.)

What kind of backup are you wanting? A backup of your entire boot drive?

i would use file history and the windows back up tool.

filehistory makes a copy of each time you edit a file. so u get like   every 10 minutes ish

porn list.txt

porn list20160104.txt

porn list20160105.txt

porn list20160106.txt

etc

and the back tool makes FULL backups.

  (once a month)

i do both.

At best: If all of my storage drives die I'd like to be able to restore everything as it was

At the very least: I want to be able to access all of my data if my storage drives die.

Now that I think about it, I don't really need to backup my boot drive as I only have programs and Windows on it, I guess I really only NEED to back up my data like my games and video files.

I think Syncback Free will do everything you need it to do. It can be scheduled to run backups too.

Hey there mbryant,

There are a few ways that you can go about this. Simplest way is to create a system image of your whole computer and store it on an external drive. Another way is to use the OS's built-in backup tools and configure a scheduled or a continuous backup of the folders that you want. Another way is to use a third-party software that can backup certain files, folders and be flexible with the way it backs up (schedule, location, etc.). I can suggest checking out WD SmartWare as a backup option. If offers a number of useful features that can get the work done. :) Here's a link: http://products.wdc.com/support/kb.ashx?id=DwNHr7

Thanks for all the help, honestly asking this question was a bit embarrassing

There's nothing wrong with asking when you don't understand something. That's one of the purposes to this forum. Helping people understand technology and how to do certain things.
