Hi guys. I'm looking to build a SFF PC soon for college. Could I get some feedback on the parts I have chosen? This PC is mostly for gaming and school work. I'm most worried about the gpu. I've heard of some people getting a 670 or 680 for the price of my build and was worried that I am overspending on certain parts. Thanks in advance!

Build: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/EOj2

I might wait for the SG10 and Haswell to come out but this is my current build with parts already released.

  • You don't really need a 3770K - you won't notice any difference in gaming between that and the smaller brother the 3570K. Another option would also be the AMD 8350.
  • I doubt you'll need 16GB of RAM and also, In a small format PC - go for low profile to make installing hardware easier.
  • I wouldn't get the soundcard straight off the bat - see what you thing of the RoG sound first.
  • Drop to a 600w PSU - you'll never need more than 450ish anyway.

:)

Ok that sounds great. I'll drop down to a 3570k and 8GB RAM then and drop the sound card. However, dropping down to a 600W PSU only saves me $30 since I need a Silverstone PSU for the short cable set so I think ill stick with the 750W.

Thanks for the help!

You can go to the Silverstone Strider Plus 600w which is about $105 vs $150 for the 750w and it still supports the cables.

  • 4 months later...

Quick question, do you have to have a Silverstone power supply for the SG09B? Thanks!

Lets talk sound The asus Maximus V gene is a good rog steady motherboard which has a sfx 2 sound chip to the new Z series which it will install into the mini pci-e slot. I would check out the sound blaster zx at newegg for $109.99 aiso check out YouTube reviews before making a decision
