Boot from PCI card with SSD?

Yes, there is no reason he shouldn't be able to, as long as the card fits I don't imagine it not working. It's $10 right now it's worth a shot

Hi. My friend has a G41M-VS3 motherboard from ASRock and he wants to buy an SSD. But that motherboard only has SATA II ports, so the SSD won't be able to use its full potential. There is this PCIe controller card on Newegg ( http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=16-124-045 ) and I want to know if he would be able to boot the SSD with that card

only if there is no need for a dedicated x16 graphics card. the adapter is a x1

PCIe and will only fit in the top x16 slot. the other slot is a PCI slot.

so as to your title on the topic, that card you have selected is for PCIe and not

for PCI.

Good point, he is using a discrete graphics card. Imma check if there is a PCI variant. Thanks
