i have the choice between an r9 380 2g and an r7 270 4g i have a resolution of 3840x1024 which is y i thought a 4gb frame buffer was helpful. which one do i pick

2GB is enough for 1080P and below but I would recommend the 4GB 380 since that is becoming the standard. The 370 isn't fast enough to use 4GB of Vram so it is unnecessary.

If you can spare the money for a 4gb version it would be better, however you'll need the extra processing power more than the larger frame buffer. What I'm saying is, you'll probably run out of gpu (power) before you run out of vram.

i can only get 380 with 2 gb of ram

More vram is not always the better choice, the 380 is going to have more stream processors which is where the real difference is. 2gb on a video card is fine, go with the 380!

Although Asus isn't the best when it comes to GPUs I still recommend the 380.
