So I found a deal for a samsung sm841 256gb ssd, for 50€~54$.

I've been reading online that it isnt recognized by samsung magician, so i cant update the firmware. Is firmware update on a ssd important?

If Samsung Magician doesn't recognise it, this means Samsung hasn't enabled it to be used with Magician, therefore there wouldn't be any firmware updates.

Firmware updates aren't important, unless it's the 840 EVO, where there was horrible performance degradation.

I guess it is a OEM of 840 pro!

OEM drives are sometimes different than retail ones, e.g. SM951, which has different (worse) NAND chips compared to 950 Pro. They're not an official product, so they don't exist (for Samsung). They're not supported by Samsung software (Magician, Data migration sw).

Politics: "Poli" a Latin word meaning "many" and "tics" meaning "bloodsucking creatures".

And taking in mind all of that, and the price 54$ for a 256gb ssd, is it worth? (Second hand of course)
