Hi guys! I recently put together my first computer, its working fine except for my RAM.

Whenever i run anything in dual channel half of my ram is hardware reserved, and windows reports that only half of my ram is usable.

It seems that i can use single channel fine, whenever i use slot 1-2 together it registers no problem. Same with 3-4.

When using 1-3 or 2-4 together CPU-Z reads it as single channel, but only half of it is usable.

I thought it was my motherboard, so i returned it in for a new one. Same story.

I have already checked my CPU for bent or damaged pins, looks completely fine.

have tried another kit of ram as well, that didn't change anything

any help will be appreciated! :D

My specs are:

CPU: AMD FX 6300

GPU: HD 7950
RAM: 8gb Hyperx Fury 1866hz

Have you checked the manual for the channels on the motherboard? I had a MoBo where the slots were 1-2 and 3-4, may be the case.

And since the slots are not color-labeled in this motherboard I think it might be the case even more hahaha

yeah i know, got the psu used of a friend, its almost brand new. I tried another ram kit, the exact same model in fact. but that didnt seem to do it either. Pretty sure my ram is okay.

Could it be a driver or software related issue? my BIOS seems to register my ram just fine.

All right. I do not know how or why. I must have done some sort of computer voodo. For some reason it simply works now. Got no clue as to why. I've spent two days trying to fix this. Must have reseated the ram at least 30 times by now. I'm never going to look at my RAM sticks again, let alone touch them. Wouldn't want to anger the pc gods.

Thanks all who contributed! :)
