I'll usually be running around 6 VM's at a time (Windows Neptune, XP x64, Ubuntu Studio, Ubuntu Server and Windows Longhorn build 4074) while gaming. I already have a decent enough keyboard, so I won't require a new one.

Well, this isn't helpful but I saw thermal compound for 9.00 and nearly shit my pants.. (then I remembers you live in Australia)  :D

I personally would ditch the loop and pickup a 5820k if you are doing that many VM's but, that's your choice.

If you do keep the 8350, you are probably spending too much on motherboard. (I know it's different currency but it shouldn't cost more than your CPU)

Current Desktop Build | 2200G | RX 580 4GB | 8GB RAM | CTRL | Logitech G Pro Wireless

Laptop | 2018 MBA 256/16GB | MX Master

How about this one then? http://au.pcpartpicker.com/part/asus-motherboard-m5a99fxpror20

I went with the Sabertooth for the sheer number of USB 3.0 ports, but I can drop in a USB card if necessary (at the cost of aesthetics :/)

Price wise I was thinking more like http://au.pcpartpicker.com/part/msi-motherboard-970gaming.

i still highly recommend 5820k/6700k

AFAIK that one has a 6+2 power phase which isn't ideal for OCing octa-cores. I personally hate black and red as well.

I might go with 5820k after Broadwell-E is announced and prices drop ;)

I have no clue lol, I just picked a random mobo that had decent PCI-E lanes and wasn't too expensive.

I personally had the mobo you listed and I thought it was good, but when I got it I spent too much on my mobo, but it appears you have money to spare.

I don't forsee prices dropping much too soon on the 5820k.

Which mobo? The Sabertooth or the Pro?

I don't have money to spare, I've been doing a paper route for the past 3 years ;)

If prices don't drop sooon, I guess I'll go with the FX.

If you are okay to go with an AIO this build would be a good option. It is using an Intel processor so better IPC and over performance. It also has more SSD size so you can have a better VM experience. More SSD size. Similar GPU. Same keyboard and mouse. http://au.pcpartpicker.com/p/sdM2XL But that is just an option but can disregard it if you really want watercooling.
