Hey guys, so I built my gaming computer, a skylake i5-6600 build with an r9 390 (http://pcpartpicker.com/p/bGdgVn) and I don't know what power supply to get! I'm trying to save a lot of money, and my base budget is 1200-1220 ish, without discounts and etc, I can of course go over, like 30 or something dollars but I'd prefer to stay under that range. I'd like a fully modular power supply, or a semi because I'm a new builder and I heard that Semi's and Fully modular PSU's are more noob-friendly. Leave me some suggestions and comments on my build! Thank you in advance.

The power supply you have is a really good power supply that will be perfect for your rig.

500W is enough, EVGA GS/GQ/G2/B2 are all good options. Check out the PSU whitelist in my sig.

My account is almost entirely dormant. Hope you all are having a grand time. Many years of fun were had here.

Would I need a 650W? or can I just go for a 550 or even a 600W?

500W should be fine, 550 or 600W would be. STR seems to know what he's on about, but Corsair in general make good PSUs so you won't have any issues there (as long as you stay away from the VS/CX series. RM/RMx as a minimum).

Remember, Corsair doesn't actually "make" the PSU. They have CWT (among other OEMs, but CWT is their main one) make the PSU as the OEM is the supplier of the internals. Corsair does have lots of good PSUs though.

Very few people in this world actually manufacture their products. Corsair do design their own products though, or at the very least improve upon existing designs and specify manufacturing specifications.

Apple only manufacture their Mac Pro (to my knowledge), Razer outsource everything, Google outsource the Nexus, AMD outsource their CPUs to GloFlow, etc, etc

I want to get a 500W but the thing is I'm just scared it's gonna power off and it's not gonna be enough you know? should I be safe and go for a 550?

It's your money. 500W should be fine but it won't leave you with many options to add additional PCI cards later down the track.

500W is pushing it with the 390 imo, I'd get some overclocking headroom. Get the EVGA B2 750W that's 44$ after Mail-in-Rebate, it's a good unit and you'll have lots of headroom

I'm sadly not able to get the mail-in rebate since it's gonna end tomorrow and I'm not gonna get this computer for a while, maybe next month or around February... What do you suggest? or do you suggest me waiting until February? Can you give me a backup PSU in case i DO get it earlier?

Any EVGA: B2/G2/GS/GQ/P2 is good. Any XFX PSU is good. Any Seasonic/Superflower is good as well, I would look for a higher-wattage one as long as the price difference will be small, 550W should be the least you're looking for, with 650W being a recommended choice for some overclocking

Well in terms of wattage you're probably looking at about 400W with a bit of overclocking so make of that what you will.
