Yo,

I've got a computer that I bought in 2012, a custom built one. Here are my specs

Motherboard: H77M - D3H

Processor: Intel Core i5-3470 3.20 GHz

GPU: Asus GTX 750ti SC

PSU: Crosshair 500 or 550w i think

I'm on a budget and is it okay if i just upgrade my motherboard and my gpu to a 980ti? would my current cpu bottleneck the 980ti?

You don't need to upgrade your motherboard and a 980Ti would be fine in the system. You probably do need to upgrade your PSU though.. Crosshair doesn't sound like a recognised brand.

I went to a local shop and asked, gave them my specs and they told me that my system would not be able to handle a 980ti cause of the mobo lol...

So all I need to do is to upgrade my psu to how many watts?

A good quality 650W is enough.

The mobo has PCI-E 3.0 and all it needs.
