Mobo LAN issue

Go to solution Solved by incarnate,

Ok so i only typed in ''ipconfig'' and i see that i don't have a ''default gateway'', any way to manually set that? (i see it on my main PC, can retype it)

Try reinstalling Windows, and then your drivers. If that doesn't work then the lan port is probably screwed.

So...thought i fixed the mobo yet there's still an issue, the internet doesn't work on it. I mean it works on my main PC, when i installed windows it even asked me if i'm connected to my home network, yet when i got to the desktop the inet wasn't there, it's showing a yellow triangle and when i troubleshoot it, it tells me to restart the modem (which i did) and then says that the issue wasn't fixed and shows me what's wrong. This is what it says:

''Local Area Connection'' doesn't have a valid IP configuration.

I know it's not the internet since it works on my main PC and both cables work (tested it), so i'm stuck, i did update the LAN driver from the main site, no luck. The network is treated as Public ''unidentified''.

Is the LAN port dead or is there something else in play?

Did you reboot your router? (if it is separate from your modem that is)

If that doesn't work, then see if you can connect to your router's admin area. If you can't, try running the command prompt (start > run > type cmd) then in the command prompt try typing "ipconfig /release" then "ipconfig /renew" without the quotation marks

Both are the same

ok so i did that and it got stuck on the last step, showed ''Windows IP configuration'' for a min or two and then threw out this:

''An error occurred while renewing interface Local Area Connection: unable to contact your DHCP server. Request has timed out''

Ipconfig /release

Ipconfig /renew

Ipconfig /flushdns

In that order.
