No. You need a MOBO with the LGA-1151 socket, not 1150. It will not bottleneck your GPU.

Intel Core i7-6700K | Corsair H105 | Asus Z170I PRO GAMING | G.Skill TridentZ Series 16GB | 950 PRO 512GB M.2

Asus GeForce GTX 980 Ti 6GB STRIX OC | BitFenix Prodigy (Black/Red) | XFX PRO Black Edition 850W

Nope. The CPU is a LGA 1151 Socket,

And the mobo is a LGA 1150 Socket.

Either downgrade the CPU or upgrade the Mobo

AMD A10 7700k APU @ 3.8 GHz  /  Dem Integrated R7 graphics  / 8 GB Crucial Ballistix DDR3 1800 MHz RAM  /  1 TB WD Black HDD  /  ARC Midi R2 Case  /  ASRock FM2A88M Pro 3+

Logitech MX Performance / Razor Blackwidow Ultimate

Link to the motherboard didn't work for me. But in those games you'll want a i7, but your processor will work for medium settings like shadow distance.

If anyone asks you never saw me.

The CPU needs an LGA 1151 socket, that mobo is LGA 1150. And teh CPU would not bottleneck the 390X if it were in the right mobo. Use this:

would this board work with an i7??

If you're on a budget and want the best performance your money can buy you want a 4790k and a 1150 motherboard. That will keep you from having to upgrade for years.

If anyone asks you never saw me.

The board you originally linked would work with an LGA 1150 i7.

What is your budget for both the CPU and motherboard?

that board will work with any Haswell, Haswell Refresh or Broadwell CPU's with a bios update.

the Z97 board will work with most commonly,

A 4790k a 4770k, 4690k, 4670k.

so what is a good  board around 100 to 150 that would work with a

I5-6600K

For the 6600K and 6700K you want a Z170 chipset motherboard and LGA 1151 socket.

The main benefit to Skylake isn't the CPU but the motherboard, I strongly recommend you prioritize the motherboard. You don't have to go crazy, but if you go cheap you'll regret it.

and would i have to git ddr4 ram with this or could i use ddr3? http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B012N6LOZS?keywords=Z170&qid=1451426489&ref_=sr_1_3&s=pc&sr=1-3

Again, you can run DDR3 but then why do you want Skylake? The main benefits to Skylake are PCI lanes and DDR4. CPU wise you'll get much more performance for your money going Haswell.

If anyone asks you never saw me.

Not bad, not ground breaking but not bad. All depends on the games you want to play. If you want to play Fallout 4, you'll need an i7 if you want to run max settings. If you're fine lowering some settings then that CPU will work fine.

Now you're talkin. That will offer the best performance per dollar, but you'll be stuck there until you change motherboards so plan on keeping it for a few years. Upgrade to what ever replaces Skylake.
