Title says all. I'm looking for some Red RAM to match my ROG build and want to know the differences. I will be buying at NCIX but price matching to Newegg.

Option 1

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820104339&Tpk=KHX16C9B1RK2%2f8x

Option 2

http://ncix.com/products/?sku=75599&vpn=KHX16C9B1RK2%2F8&manufacture=Kingston

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820104344&Tpk=KHX16C9B1RK2%2f8

Which one should I get? I think I matched the serial numbers correctly, let me know if my links are wrong.

The difference is that one is in the US and the other is for Canada. As for the different prices on Newegg, it was probably just a mistake.

Ram is ram and brand makes no difference. Specs determine the performance. Any CL9 1600 ram will do.

Cheaper and better: http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/part/patriot-memory-pv38g186c9krd

Pretty much the same except voltages.

Another difference is that the first one supports Intel XMP while the other one does not by reading the model numbers:  http://www.kingston.com/us/memory/hyperx/decoder/

I would get the first one because the second one even though its ok for your build 1.7V is too much imo.

You would have to enable the XMP profile in order to get CL9 1600Mhz 1.65v for the first one that you chose. If you do not enable it, you will run the ram at 1333Mhz CL9 1.5v.

I was going to go with the first one anyways because its cheaper at Newegg but why does Newegg list the ram at 1.65V and NCIX at 1.7V? Does voltage make that much difference on RAM?

Follow up question to the XMP, this is going into an AMD (Crosshair V) board, you are saying it will only run at 1333 @ 1.65V and 1600 @ 1.7V, unless I enable XMP then it runs 1600 @ 1.65? Not sure I follow.

Voltages like 1.65v or 1.7v don't really make a difference.

Ram isn't permanently set to a speed. The 1600 is the spec'ed speed and the mobo's default settings will be 1333. You basically go into the bios to load up the xmp profile that's on the ram and it will automatically set the correct settings for the ram to run at 1600.
