First Gaming PC Build

helloman1556

Hey guys, I'm looking to build my first gaming PC and I already have a parts list put together. I'm planning to build this around May or June so prices may change a bit but I was wondering if there's anything I should change to improve performance around the same budget? Budget max is around $1100-1200 USD and hoping to run current gen games at high settings, 60fps with a single 1080p monitor.

Thanks.

I'd go with a skylake system with the i5-6600k instead, it wont bottleneck you in games and is cheaper  than the i7 4790k.

Get a R9 390 over the 970. It beats the 970 at all resolutions (even when both are overclocked) and has 8gb of vram, which mean it'll be more relevant in the future.

lol.. i would take 4790k over i5 anyday since op included it i guess it fits his budget..

and some games run better with the i7, fallout 4, crysis 3 etc.

and 390 vs 970 is dependent on what games you play...

Id still take Skylake for the newer platform, but if you can add around $50 more get the 6700K

As for the 390 vs 970 I agree, and gap is much closer than some realise, gameworks games the 970 > 390

I disagree if you watch Jayztwocents' video the 390 was basically whooping the 970 in every game.. and AMD cards age much better so far than Nvidia's

We're all dying slowly

Its less than 5% per game, also in the gameworks title (Witcher 3) as I said, the 970 wins.

390 is still a great card none the less
