PC running very hot

Go to solution Solved by Mr_Oujamaflip,

OK! I've replaced the H105 with a Noctua NH-C14S and added 2 Noctua NF-P14S Redux fans as intakes in the top of the case. It's knocked off about 10 degrees across the board and is almost silent. Success!

Thanks for your suggestions guys!

Hello!

In the past few days I've been finding my PC has been running considerably hotter than before. It's about an extra 15 degrees hotter than before on the Motherboard and GPU temps although the CPU appears to be fine. It's also just crashed and restarted while playing The Witcher 3 which I then tested and as soon as the GPU fans kicked in it did the same thing. I then tested it on Rainbow Six: Siege and it did not crash so this may or may not be unrelated.

I'm pretty sure it's an airflow problem since I've set it up like a dummy and I'm waiting for a new CPU cooler to try out my theory but here are my specs:

i7 4790k @ 4ghz

16GB Corsair Vengeance Pro DDR3-1866 (2x8GB)

MSI GeForce GTX 980Ti 6GB

Corsair H105

Corsair CX750W 80+ Bronze

Samsung 850 Evo 1TB

Seagate Barracuda 2TB

MSI Z97m Gaming

Aerocool DS-Cube Black

So I'm thinking since the H105 uses up two of the fan slots all I've got is the 200mm on the front and the 120 on the back for airflow to the rest of the case. I'm awaiting a Noctua NH-C14s to replace it and then use fans in the top as intake in the hopes to cool the rest down and if it doesn't work I can just return it anyway. I'm also thinking it may be the case as it's all pretty tight in there and the airflow probably isn't going to be great regardless. (It's also pretty damn loud - Dead Silence my arse) and I'm on the fence about just moving to a new case - had my eye on a Fractal Define Mini.

Basically I'm just looking at some validation of my theory or some other options. I wouldn't be worried if Witcher 3 had started crashing but I'm more concerned now.

Thanks for you help.

what happens if you take the wire you have on the cpu header and move it to a fan header?

do you have the fans on the radiator between the radiator and the case and sucking air from inside the case to out?

do you have anything blowing across the ram and power circuitry around the cpu?

dame that is hot,

Also, what do you mean by "before"?

Well the temps only started hitting these numbers in the past few days, I think I noticed it on Christmas Eve. I'd checked them every so often beforehand and the GPU was usually sitting around 70-75 under load. CPU was similar, unfortunately I don't have a screenshot of it.

EDIT: @LabRat

The case has a 200mm fan as an intake blowing across the motherboard and ram and then a 120 as exhaust on the other side.

The radiator fans are between above the radiator and blowing out of the case.

The fans are topping it at 1800ish RPM I don't think that is the problem

if you have the pump connected to the cpu header ( which is what i meant when I wrote the other stuff ) it will not run at a steady pace like it would if you have it connected to a regular faster fan header.
