Interesting Problem with USB Flash Drive

So I built a new PC:

 

Core i7 6700K

ASUS Z170 DELUXE

16GB RAM

No GPU yet

 

ANYWAY, so here's my problem:

 

I used a tool called "Rufus" to create a bootable flash drive so I could install Windows on my new PC. The Flash Drive I have is a SanDisk Extreme 16GB USB Drive. After I installed Windows, the flash drive was detected as a "Local Disk" and non-removable. For some reason, even after formatting, it has an MBR on it and multiple partitions can be created and deleted, which isn't normal behavior for a flash drive. Many USB utilities won't detect the drive as the drive thinks it's a Hard Drive or Local Disk. In "Disk Management" it says the flash drive is a "Basic Disk" instead of a removable drive. There is also a "System Volume Information" and a "Recycler {RANDOM NUMBERS} folder on it. It is also picked up as a hard disk in Disk Defragmenter and can be Optimized.

 

I've tried everything I can think of (using DISKPART to clean it etc...) and it still detects as a Hard Disk. Is it broken forever?

 

Any help is GREATLY appreciated! :)

Try deleting the partitions and then formatting it in windows disk manager.

It turns out that this is a common problem... this is the drive's fault and you may have to RMA the drive
