So I'm thinking of upgrading my fx 6300 to an i5 4590, to meet the oculus requirements as I plan on getting one, as well as the increase in performance I should see now, considering how much the fx bottlenecks my 970. However one of my concerns is that when DX12 starts being used more and more, my fx may outperform the i5. At the moment I only have enough money for the i5, I wouldn't be able to afford a motherboard for it yet, maybe a month later, so I'm considering buyingan 240GB  SSD that's on offer on  amazon, what should I do?

Is the integrated gpu on processor ever better than high end gpu?

you wot m8

Exactly what I asked.

Skylake have a inbuilt gpu.

Dont derail the thread and create your own one.

And if a day comes where the iGPU on a $250 CPU (keeping in mind that most of that money goes towards the CPU itself) is better than a $600 Graphics card, Ill buy CPU for days.

Forget the SSD and save up for the CPU + Board. The CPU + Board will make far more difference in your system. The impact of an SSD is so overrated.

your FX6300 shouldnt bottleneck a 970 by more then 5-10% at worst. The 970 isnt some miracle machine. A FX 6300 can push a R9 290, which is fairly close to a 970. So unless you play a lot of indy games or games from before 2013, then the FX should perform just fine.

hold onto the FX until ZEN comes out.

THEN BUY SOMETHING.

dont get haswell now. Its "outdated" and no new products will be coming to the LGA 1150 socket. So no point buying into a dead platform.

wait for Skylake prices to drop/ZEN to come out

I looked up skylake and an i5 6500 is actually less than the 4590, where I am anyway

ofc. 4590 was outdated long ago. it was outdated by the 4690.... so atm, any 45xx product has massively inflated prices
