I currently have a Corsair 500r. I'm using the stock fans and the stock AMD heatsink fan, and it gets very loud. I'm considering a define r4 which I can get for $90 and selling my 500r on ebay. So here are my questions.

1) Can anyone vouch for the noise dampening of the R4 window? 2) Do you think there is any market for a used 500R?

Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

The 500R isn't loud, my friend has one and I can barely here her case, something else is wrong.
It's not that the 500r is loud, its the AMD heatsink. The 500R is just a little too flashy and has to many points that can allow noise to to pass through to the user.

You should just get a better heatsink like NRG said. If you want silence, get a cooler and replace it with Noctua fans or buy a Noctua cooler.

That's probably what I'm going to do. but not Noctua. I'm sorry, but i just can't take the ugly brown color scheme.

Thanks again!

You can change the color scheme by dying the fan: http://forum.overclock3d.net/showthread.php?t=35185
