APU build?

Dante0217

Im looking for a build for my brother in law who will be doing some gaming on it. He will be adding a dedicated GPU later (3+ months) but needs something to play some basic games (League, Rocket League). He wants to be able to at least be able to run Project cars as well and knows that APU's are similar to the ones in current gen consoles and hopes to be able to run it and whatever other games he will be buying from the steam winter sale with his giftcards, albeit at low settings and at 1080p.

This is a build i had planned on with the $400 budget he gave me

The 860K is as powerful as the most powerful APU minus integrated graphics. A R9-380 will smoke that APU.

Thank you for your lightning fast reply! I understand that MOST low-mid level GPU's will blow APU's out of the water, but he WILL be buying a BIG BOY card later down the line and im talking about R9 Fury or GTX 980ti in March/April. So my question is, how is this CPU gonna hold up down the line? He will be using this bad boy as his college PC as he graduates in May.

980 ti/ fury with the 860k is the definition of bottleneck.

better use the money of the 980 ti and the money now to get an i5 and a 390

Unfortunately he NEEDS a PC NOW since his laptop broke and is still in highschool so he won't be able to wait. What do you recommend in that situation?

the i5 will be strong enough to give him very  good fps on every game when he gets an external gpu(r9 390x /390/380 even a gtx 980ti)

the igpu tho is good enough for mediocre gaming, like lol and rocket league
