Sound card problem

Hello,

 

i have recently had a problem with my sound in games, when i encounter a dialog in any game i dont hear the person who talks to me in some situations. When i listen to music or do anything else there is no problem with audio. I am using stereo headphones plugged into my motherboard soundcard. There are some free PCIe x1 slots on my motherboard. Could buying a new sound card solve this problem? If yes please would you be so kind and suggest me what sound card to buy?

Is the driver up to date?

The problem is occurring only on certain games or all games?

i have just solved the problem by trying external sound card which works well so i will probably end up using that one. Sorry for wasting your time on my problem.
