Windows - File Grabbing Only

Hi, I was just wondering, is there a way in Windows to set a file to be only able to see for others but have them not able to delete it or move its location unless permission is valid? So basically a way to setup a grab copy, or able to see it and not able to make changes to it. Thanks

I know you can do it with a drive making everything inside read only, but I'm not sure about a single file, there might be a piece of software that is capable, but I'm not sure about Windows alone

yes first make a new folder then right click it go to security and allow the accounts you want to access it or disable all except yours :3

it would be pretty complex..but I think you could actually do it

it would be simpler to use a 3rd party program to do it

You need to set permissions using advanced settings.

 

You might just want Read then set a other permissions for other users for example if like anyone who is an admin you can make set permissions for anyone in administrator group. While you set for everyone set a permission to read only.

So it sounds like in order to access a file under these permissions, the file will contain the access information? Or would the access information be stored on the system? Would it be encrypted security access?

Yeah it looks like Read Only gives the permission to have users unable to over write it in that location, I'll have to do more testing later
