I just got my Strix 970(Christmas present), but my PC isn't that happy..

After 5 to 10 minutes in a game the computer freezes and (1 time only for now) restarts.

The computer worked fine before with 7770, 280X and 640. Never had this problem before.

The card has coil whine under load.

Rest of system:

CPU: FX-4170(going to be changed, I know it's a bottleneck)

MOBO: GA-970A-DS3

PSU: Raider 750 Bronze

Case: Raidmax Helios(it's open and has 4 fans)

Ram: 2x8 Adata 1333.

Should I return it?

did you use DDU to remove all the AMD drivers and then install nvidia geforce experience and the latest nvidia drivers?

also are all your windows updates installed

Yes, all old Drivers are uninstalled(the last GPU was the 640, the 280X had Bios issues)

No, updates aren't new, I use pirated 7 Ultimate x64 and I don't want my PC to be slowed down by unnecessary updates.

i think your whole setup is kind of whacky but i think it is the power supply too. maybe there is something wrong with it. if you can rma it or just get a new one you should do that. plus maybe try a fresh install of windows to begin with. it is the easiest change you can make.

all updates are necessary, unless you enjoy having a ton of security holes in your system

also the 970 wont work properly unless both windows updates and the geforce drivers are up to date

I am not sure about the PSU, it just crashed idling at 48C(GPU) and ~35 CPU.

I am now testing on another system, but with the same PSU(the other one I have is a Chinese Safepower PK-400 that doesn't even have PCI-E connectors.)

It's a E8400 system
