Hello everybody! This is my first post on the fourm but I have been looking around for a while :). My birthday is coming up in April and my lovely girlfriend is giving me 300 bucks to buy a new GPU YAY! I plan on getting three monitors down the road perhaps not right away but I would like to end up with three 23" monitors each running at 1920x1080. I would like to the video games at good settings High/Very High/Ultra/Medium if need be. I plan on playing games like Battlefield 3, Grand Theft Auto 4, Crysis 2 and 3, etc. So what would the lovely members of the forum recommend this kind of setup for around 300 to 400 dollars? I would like to keep my cap at 400 but I am open to suggestions. In my current system I have a

3570k (running at 4.5GHZ)

ASUS P8Z77-V PRO

16 GIGS of Corsair Vengeance ram

Corsair Pro Series GOLD AX850 psu

CPU is being cooled by an H100i

No GPU running HD 4000 ( other cards died long story lol )

Thanks in advance!! :D

Midrange GPU's for arround $300 are: AMD 7870 or Nvidia 660

Good Highend GPU's for maximum $400 are: AMD 7950 like XFX Core or Sapphire Vapor or any AMD GPU's which have arround 3GB or video ram.

And from Nvidia you have than the 660Ti.

I would recommend you the 7950 because AMD has have better multi monitor support than Nvidia.

And AMD cards have more video ram which really helps for mult monitor configuration.

Watch out, there might be ninjas out there

Guys.... I know Sapphire looks really nice' date=' but stay away from it. Spend the extra $50 and get an MSI or ASUS card.[/quote']

And your reasoning is?

Asus 7970s are nonexistent at the moment.

You're not gaining $50 in performance either way, unless you aren't overclocking and just want to get the Ghz edition.

Both the Sapphire 950 Mhz and MSI TF3 7950s use the reference 7970 PCB. And theres arguably little to no cooling advantage of the Twin Frozr over the Dual-X. How well either of them overclocks and performs comes down to luck. So, I don't see your rationale of MSI being better.

I agree with Beeblebrox on this one, couldn't have said it better myself I have heard nothing but good about Sapphire honestly. I am really leaning toward a 7970 I think because it beats the 7950 and I plan to overclock so it will increase that much more, also I feel more comfortable running 3 monitors on a 7970 and I can always add another 7970 down the road if I feel it is lacking.

Sounds like a good plan.

I would also for the 7950 because it is a good GPU and you can get Crysis 3 and Bioshock Infinite for free when you buy this GPU plus once they are overclocked the 7950 leads the GTX 660ti in Far Cry 3 and Starcraft 2.
