Cpu upgrade problem

Hmm, could be PSU, can you try another one on your rig? Borrow a friends?

Not really but it's a 420w it should be enough

Hey guys, I've just upgradeed to a Q6600 from a Pentium D the rest is unchanged si I have 2x2 gigs of ddr2 800 RAM a GA-965G-DS3 rev 1.0 motherboard with the latest bios but when I start up the pc I see the post screen an then the Windows is starting screen but then it just shuts down

Can anyone help?

So you see the windows loading screen but then the pc just literally shuts it self off? It doesn't restart straight away? You have to press the power button to power it back on again?

I'm not saying it not enough... it could be faulty, a PC shouldn't just die during boot? Can you boot to bios? Does it stay on for more than 10 minutes if you leave it in bios?
