Is my computer damaged?

Go to solution Solved by Steven1997,

Parts for the thing aren't exactly what id call readily available, but ill see what i can do.

I think you should create a list of things to rule out the easy and simple stuff first to prevent you spending money on parts what you don't need I've done it my self purchasing parts I didn't need for my pc when it was a simple fix just by grabbing another stick of ram or removing one and try it with a single stick

So i'm trying to restore an old machine. It turns on, the fans spin up. They keybard led's light up when a specific key is pressed, accompanied by a beep.

The problem is i cant get any display. The screen has what some people would call "screen cataract", where the borders of the crt screen look grey and weird.

What would be the problem here?

I was thinking about the graphics chip, the screen itself or the video cable ( but this is unlikely, since that cable also powera the screen just fine == crt buzzing).

Sorry cant reveal too much about my project (might put up something about it soon if successful).

What would be the problem here?

Is the screen's state the reason im getting no dislay?

try running it with a different Gpu

Not exactly possible.

The gpu is a chip on a logic board.

One thing I can suggest, is if you can, try connecting to a different monitor, that you know works for sure.

It could be damaged ram or it could be your inboard graphic but that's unlikely as other components would be damaged as well as the graphic so I would say ram or it might be the port on your mobo or the cables if it was me I would fault find and try other components like try other cables switch monitors and try other mobo with the components
