Do I need a fan controller?

Go to solution Solved by Octavialicious,

8 or 9 fans total.

I mean you could get splitters, but a fan hub would definitely be better imo. This one holds 8 and is high quality (and cheap too!) http://www.amazon.com/SilverStone-Technology-All-Black-CPF04/dp/B00VNW556I/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1450892935&sr=8-1&keywords=fan+hub

If you need 9 like you said, you could get this splitter http://www.amazon.com/SilverStone-Technology-Sleeved-Splitter-CPF01/dp/B00B46XKKQ/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1450892968&sr=8-1&keywords=y+splitter+black+fan or  you could plug one fan into the motherboard :)

I'm building a new system next month, and I'm replacing the NZXT fans and adding a couple of other case fans too. I've never added custom fans to a pc build so I'm not sure if I need to get a fan controller, or if I can manage it all from the mobo.

depends if the motherboard has enough fan headers or not

if youre only short by a few then you can just use fan splitters

Can you use software to control the fan speeds with that?

why so many fans? for the looks?

Partially looks, and I also want high airflow with low noise.

It's PWM so yes, you should be able to :)

Exactly what I need then, thanks for the help!

I didn't want to get a fan controller if I didn't have to because I don't want to add a black controller to the front of my white case, but if I can just mount that inside and plug her in that easy its perfect!
