i've set up a new router, TP-Link Archer C9, at home and everything is running smooth and fine

until i try to connect wirelessly on my laptop

i'm connected but it says limited/not internet connection

but all my other wireless device connects just fine

i have DHCP enabled

no mac filtering

i'm using a intel wireless N 2230 adapter on my laptop

the router has detected the connection and assigned an ip to my laptop 192.168.0.106
but for some reason, when i go into details on my adapter connection details, it says

169.254.152.87 for IPv4 autocongfiguration
and blank for the default gateway

is some setting incorrect on my laptop? everything is set to auto, so shouldn't my laptop sync with the router to get the correct IP and gateway?

Your laptop is getting an APIPA address (gives its self that address when it it gets no responce from a DHCP server). Have you tried manually assigning IP information?

IP:192.168.0.106

SNM:255.255.255.0 (Assuming the default /24)

DG: (Your Routers IP, probably 192.168.0.1)

Glad it's working!

I always like to remind people about the right click on the icon in the system tray, and select the "troubleshoot connection"

That does most of the steps that are done with the command prompt repair but automatically. Obviously not a big deal for those of us who are technically inclined, but great to remember it's there for the inevitable call from a technologically illiterate friend (grandparent) with a broken network. That will usually get them running again without having to talk them through too much.
