Jump to content

Right click and select delete volume to both partitions. Once that is done right click on the disk and select new simple volume and format it to the system you want.

You cannot format a drive while it is mounted.

 

You have to use a bootable OS such as GParted. http://gparted.sourceforge.net/

what do you mean mounted? I reinstalled OS to a new ssd and I'm just trying to use the old HDD for mass storage and free up 400gb

Well, that is stupid.

 

Also, I will NEVER acknowledge information or tips from you now that you recommend doing this.

 

You should ALWAYS unmount a drive before formatting it.
