I got GTA V pc as a gift from a friend because he wants to play with someone online. I installed the game and then ran it. The game looks good but there is a lot of screen shutter and it lags the game. I have v-sync off everything on low settings and it still does the same.

These are my pc specs:

Intel g3258 @3.20Ghz

Asus Strix edition 960 2gb

6GB DDR3 RAM

I have seen videos on youtube where they have the same build as me and their game is on high and it runs smoothely. I dont know what has happened to my pc. I updated my graphic card drivers to the latest ones from nvidia (Version: 359.06). I restarted my pc and ran gta again and the same thing happened, screen shutter and lag. I changed the settings to ultra, high, medium and low and they all had the same frame rate, around 40-50fps. I am sure i havent installed something correctly becasue fps isnt affected by the quality.

Can someone help me here and tell me what I can do?

Thanks

The Pentium is the problem. An i5 would be the best but an i3 would still be an improvement.

You're not the only one with lag.

Judge a product on its own merits AND the company that made it.

Its the CPU, like Amazingasian said. My system had that same CPU before i went with a i7 due to un-playable FPS on some games like GTA....and stutter. Check your GPU utilization, its suffering due to the CPU. Some games may be fine with that CPU but, if its a game that is very heavy on a CPU like GTA or even BF then that G CPU will struggle to keep up with the GPU.

I am looking around the internet trying to find a good cpu for LGA1150 socket but they are really expensive.

I found an i5 4460, 4590, 4690, 4690K, i7 4790, 4790K.

Any other options I have for a quad core that it cheap and does the work?

a 4460 will be fine.

8Gb or morb ram would be better than 6gb

A i5 4460 i think is the cheapest you can get on 1150 that may be ok for GTA. Unless maybe you change to an older platform like a 1155 and get a used i5 for cheaper. If you must go with 1150 sins you have that platform then try craigslist maybe or something for a used 4460.

I have already bought new ram (16GB) because I also do editing and I think it should be plenty for GTA to run smoothly.

Previously I had a GTX 260 (895mb) graphics card and the same cpu and I ran gta on that and it was runnning smoothly without screen shutter (it could only run on low though). I then upgraded to the 960 (2GB) and the screen shutter started.

Is it the graphics card or not? I also ran some other games with the new 960 to see if the GPU is faulty. League of Legends ~200fps Ultra settings, CSGO ~250fps Ultra settings, TF2 ~250 fps Ultra settings, Dota 2 ~200fps Ultra settings, Far Cry 4 ~50fps High settings (has no lag and no screen shutter)

I am sure that it is the cpu's fault but why is it working perfectly on other games but GTA? I know GTA is a really demanding game but so is far cry 4. How does that happen?
