Managed to get a q8200 pretty cheap so i banged that in and no problems at all now , so yeah that old q6600 was faulty

Hey guys

So i built a spare pc for my sister to use because her laptop was on life support

i built her an old Dell xps 420 , q6600 , 2gb ram , random geforce 6200 le

, my problem lies within the CPU , it randomly blue screens , could be 5 mins , could be 5 hours but it keeps throwin up BCCode 124 ( hardware failure )

i believe it is the cpu because it threw up the exact same error in my brother pc , i stress tested it for an hour with prime 95 , temps were at 50c and it didnt crash or BSOD or anything

so now i need to get her another cpu , but i have no idea what the dell xps420 will take in terms of cpu , the most intensive thing she does is skype and watch her programs and stuff on it

should i get another q6600 (£18 ebay) and hope for the best or get a different cpu ? if i beg enough someone might give me one lol jks jks :P

thanks for any input guys

Never use prime 95 ever. Aida64 is safer as 95 will sometimes overvolt and fuck over the CPU. You could get that cpu as it seems pretty cheap

Prime was fine on it when i tested it , CPU was at 1.2-1.3v all the time , and yeah , im gonna see if i can get another q6600 locally and see what happens
