How much does the motherboard affect the overclocks you can get on skylake?

Just wondering if it was worth spending abit extra to go skylakeinstead of haswell.

Are you referring to getting a K-series processor or using the Skylake trick to allow overclocks on any processor?

better mobos will have better power delivery but it will only help so much, no need to go all out

 

and depending on your budget skylake is only about 5-10% better performance wise but if its worth the money for you then definitely go with the newer platform

Getting a K series processor and overclocking, I read that the voltage regulation was moved back to the motherboard for Skylake so the motherboard would have a much bigger impact on the overclock you could achieve. Just wondered if it was true!
