i3 > x4 860k. Even though the 860k has 4 cores the i3 have superior IPC and therefore would perform better plus the hyperthreading on the i3 would help everywhere but gaming (which can't use hyperthreading yet).

Hey Community!

I have 2 qustions and I would be happy if someone could answer Thema:

1.: Im planning to build a PC for my friend and bis budget is not that great. Im planning to put a g3258 into it paired with 16gib of RAM and a r9 380 4gib. Is a Corsair CX 500 M good enough for that? I See it has 2 PCIe 6+2 connectors but I dunno if it is enough quality etc.

2. Would the g3258 at 4.3-4.5Ghz with Cooler Master Hyper Evo 212 bottlenecking the r9 380?

Sincerly,

Chiiter

I'm just gonna say that 16 GB of RAM is probably overkill for gaming, does your friend do CAD?

hehehe.. CX PSU

Right... I forgot to mention. CX power supplies CAN be okay, but ONLY FOR LOW-END COMPUTERS MEANT FOR LIGHT THINGS SUCH AS WEB BROWSING!

Get rid of that 16GB ram and use 8GB. RAM isn't everything. 8gb is more than enough for gaming. I'd recommend using the extra money from the ram to get either a core i3 4150, 4160 or 4170. Many games these days require 4 threads and the g3258 only has 2 threads.

PC:

AMD Ryzen 9 5900X | AMD Radeon RX 7900 GRE | 32 GB RAM | Arch Linux

Laptop:

MacBook Pro 13" (2019) | Intel Core i5 8279U | 8 GB RAM | macOS

Server:

Intel Core i7 6700K | 16 GB RAM | 2 TB HDD | Debian Linux

What games? I only know 3 and I think the Pentium will be much better in performance/dollar wont it?

Thanks man so you think the ivy bridge i3 is better? Could be probably under multithreaded workloads right? Is the stock cooler enough? And could you please switch to pcpartspicker germany since that psu is not available in germany :(

It is most likely on amazon. You should really go with an i5 4460 with that card, or maybe an athlon x4 860k.

Ryzen 5 1600 - GTX 980 Ti - Broke.

Okay and will the i3 bottleneck the GPU?

Okay thanks a lot.

One last qustion, sorry, but the xfx is better then the CX series?

Yes, by several lightyears. XFX in the PSU market are just Seasonic rebrands for cheaper, therefore they are one of the best.
